CLINTON, Iowa--A cold shooting night cost the Ashford University men's basketball team as it visited Johnson Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Stout. AU shot just 30.2% (13-of-43) from the field as the Blue Devils of UW-Stout downed the visitors, 60-35.Sophomore guard DeAndre Lowery Jr. led Ashford with 10 points while Vesteinn Sveinsson and Damon Overton each finished with seven.
The Saints fell into a 12-2 hole to start the contest, a deficit which the team wouldn't overcome throughout the remainder of the clash. AU scored just 13 first half points and struggled to get anything going on the offensive end in the second half as the squad fell to 16-7 overall this season.
Senior guard Chris Hortman led the Blue Devils with 24 points as UW-Stout improved to 15-4 overall.
For the game, Ashford was outrebounded 40-20 including an 11-2 clip in offensive rebounds. The Saints also turned the ball over 14 times while turning UW-Stout over on 12 occasions.
Ashford must turn around quickly as the team visits Des Moines on Monday for a showdown with the Vikings of Grand View University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
