News

Fire in the process area did $70,000 worth of damage to the Clinton County Bio Energy Plant in Clinton, Iowa.

The fire was reported just at the plant at 5640 44th Avenue South just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

Battalion Chief Frederick Roling said soy oil caught fire inside pipes in the process area, which is outside all the plant buildings.

Roling said employees tried to extinguish the fire while firefighters were traveling to the plant, but strong winds prevented them from putting out the fire.

Flames and heavy black smoke were visible when firefighters arrived.  It took them about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Damage to the plant was estimated at $70,000.

No injuries were reported.
